Education and Achievements:
1999- 2003 University of Kent at Canterbury
  Computer Science (with a year in industry) BSc (Hons)
  Subjects include: Software Engineering using Java 1.2, Functional programming, Mathematics, Computer Architecture, Networking and Operating Systems. My Final year modules included Computer Graphics, Distributed Systems, Software Failure and Risk and Embedded Computer Systems.
  Activities: Holder of C&G Amateur Radio Licence, and president of the University society, training members to gain a licence also.
Member of the University drama society within which I was actively involved with lighting. Also employed as casual crew for the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury.
  The Industrial placement was carried out from July 2001- August 2002 with Avolites Ltd.

  A-Levels
  Subjects include: Computing (B), Electronics (C), Mathematics (D) and General Studies (D).
  Activities: Presented my own radio show with the student radio station STORM! and was Internet and Communications Editor. Was heavily involved with the STORM Radio Roadshow (1998) Colchester, in organisation, rigging, sound crew and stage management.

  Subjects include: 9 A-C grades including Mathematics, English and Science.
  Activities: Librarian, Chairman of Christian Union, taken part in Drama Productions, and member of School Band.
   
Employment and Work Experience:
May 2003-  Present Freelance lighting work. Establishment of Edward Pennie Lighting Designs with myself as sole trader to pursue my interests in lighting and computing.
   
Jan 2003- May 2003 Casual technical crew at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury. Lighting operator in the campus nightclub. Crew with Knight International on a UK arena tour as technical lighting crew.
   
Aug 2002- Dec 2002 General short term contracts including LX crew at the Colchester Free Festival, Casual technical at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury. Also a variety of computer related tasks helping fellow students with varying problems.
   
July 2001- Sep 2002 Working with Avolites Ltd on a placement year as part of my University degree. Offering Fixture Support, website maintenance and technical support to customers.
   
Summer 2000- Summer 2001 During holidays from University temporary contracts with Top Job Adecco employment agencies.
Lighting work with Knight International, including a UK arena tour.
   
Summer 1999 Temporary contracts with Top Job employment agency.
Electronics student Technician at Sixth Form College (during my second year, paid).
   
Summer 1997 Medbex Electrical contractors as Electrical assistant.
Part time private Electrical and building work
   
Outside Education:
  Excellent experience of MS Windows 2000/XP and 2000 server. Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and many other aspects. Please see skills page above.
  Interest in electrical and electronic projects.
  Member of the scouting movement, from being Senior patrol leader to training cub scouts and as a helper with the local garrison scout troop.
  Photography and digital image processing.
  Keen interest in music, listening, performing and clubbing including a week in Ibiza summer 2002.
